If there’s one critic whom President Rodrigo Duterte gained’t lash out towards in public, that might maybe be former President Fidel V. Ramos.
In a speech on the launch of Ramos’ e-book, “Make Change Work,” on Monday (July 17), Duterte referred to as the previous President his “idol.”
“You are my number one supporter, but at the same time you are the number one critic now,” he informed Ramos, eliciting laughter from the viewers.
“So it is a matter really of principle in life, you are your place. And I respect your criticism. I accept your advice,” Duterte added.
Referring to the shirt with the “Follow Me” print that Ramos gave him earlier throughout this system, the President mentioned: “And maybe I will mimic your role as president before. I will follow you, just like what the T-shirt says. Only difference is that I am not a military man.”
Ramos has referred to as out Duterte for cursing and criticizing the United States. He was credited for convincing the President to run within the 2016 elections.
Despite their variations in opinion, Duterte mentioned he and Ramos are the identical so far as love for the nation is worried.
“But love of country, patas tayo, sir. I would say that I love my country as much as you do. And we are ready to die for this country,” he mentioned.
