Looks like all is nicely between President Rodrigo Duterte and Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, who was totally embarrassed by the previous’s pronouncements on the Benham Rise subject.
Duterte, throughout a speech Sunday (March 19) in Myanmar the place he’s on a two-day official go to, poked enjoyable at Lorenzana’s receding hairline, saying it doesn’t look pretty much as good because it used to.
“Si Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, he’s of Ilocano ancestry but he grew up in Cotabato City. I first met him nung mayor pa ako, he was the commander of the 2nd Ranger battalion na dinala sa Davao. Doon ko siya… many many years ago,” he informed the Filipino group at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
“Maganda pa ‘yung buhok niya. Ngayon… Totoo,” Duterte mentioned, illiciting laughter from the group.
“I’m not trying to be funny but talaga pati ako, ang dali… over a period of just a few years, ako may balding ako dito sa talimpuyo ko,” he added. Lorenzana was current on the occasion as he was a part of the official Philippine delegation.
Last week, the Defense chief appeared completely out of the loop when he raised alarm over the incursion of Chinese vessels in Benham Rise, which is a purportedly resource-rich undersea landmass that’s a part of the Philippines’ unique financial zone.
However, Duterte later admitted that he had an settlement with Beijing and that he knew all about the exercise in Benham Rise.
