Since the military has no means to feed them, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has been asked to step in the handle the detained suspected members of the Maute terrorist group in Camp Evangelista in Cagayan de Oro City.
In a letter to Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) officer-in-charge, Undersecretary Catalino Cuy, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre asked that “the BJMP, through your office, to provide adequate manpower, food provisions and other related resources for the apprehended members of the Maute Group and other lawless elements sympathizing to their cause inside Camp Evangelista, Patagm Cagayan de Oro City.”
Aguirre stated the Supreme Court (SC) has given a directive to the commanding basic of the Fourth Infantry Division stationed in Camp Evangelista to present applicable and safe detention amenities for the arrested terrorist members.
“Upon coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), they have agreed to comply with the directives of the Supreme Court,” he famous.
“However, they need assistance from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology for proper administration and management of the apprehended members of the Maute Group,” Aguirre identified.
“Further, they lack the necessary funds to provide the daily need, ie. food, of the detained Maute members,” he pressured.
