Soldiers with four or more youngsters can hold up their weapons and go again to their households, President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned Wednesday (June eight).
In a speech earlier than members of the first Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Sultan Kudarat, Duterte mentioned he feels for the households of soldiers with a number of youngsters.
“Kasi ‘pag mag-punta ako sa ospital, mag-tanong ako, ‘Bata, taga-saan ka?’ ‘Taga-Tuguegarao, sir.’ U**** na Ilokano. Ilan ang anak mo?’ ‘Sir, apat.’ Pag pin ko sa Purple Heart, sabihin ko, ‘Huwag ka nang bumalik dito ha. Paglabas mo sa ospital umuwi ka na. Ako na ang bahala doon sa general mo, sabihin ko, ako na — bigyan kita ng ibang trabaho,’” he mentioned.
“Huwag masyado kasi naaawa ako eh,” Duterte added.
The President has been making the rounds of army camps these previous few days as soldiers are engaged in a conflict with the terrorist Maute group in Marawi City.
Duterte mentioned he has put aside a P20-billion belief fund– which can develop to P50 billion– for the training of soldiers’ youngsters.
