Former Metro Rail Transit (MRT) common supervisor Al Vitangcol III on Wednesday (August 2) pleaded not responsible over two counts of graft for allegedly making an attempt to extort $30-million from a Czech agency.

Vitangcol made the plea throughout arraignment proceedings earlier than the Sandiganbayan Sixth Division.

Under the charges, Vitangcol and his co-accused, businessman Wilson de Vera, have been accused of making an attempt to extort Czech agency Inekon in 2012 in alternate for getting the contract to provide further gentle rail automobiles (LRV) and upkeep of the MRT underneath the P3.7-billion MRT-Three enlargement undertaking.

Also, they allegedly pressured the Czech agency into coming into right into a three way partnership settlement along with his de Vera for the contract.

After Inekon turned them down, LRV provide contract was awarded to China’s CNR Dalian, whereas, upkeep contract was given to PH Trams.
