The University of Santo Tomas Central Judiciary Board simply put to waste the overwhelming victory of the “abstain” vote within the 2017 pupil council elections by ordering the proclamation of the losing bets who bought the very best quantity of votes.
In a decision launched on July 24, the Central Judiciary Board ordered the Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) to put aside its decision dated May 10 declaring the positions for president, vp, treasurer and auditor vacant.

“[T]he abstentions should not have been counted or tallied because they are not votes,” it added.
The judiciary board’s choice successfully makes the next candidates from the Lakas Tomasino Coalition the brand new officers of the scholar council. They are Steven Grecia as president, Gabriela Sepulchre as vp, Daveson Nieto as treasurer and Richard Javier as auditor.
