Senator Sonny Trillanes believes the sacking of Nick Faeldon as chief of the Bureau of Customs (BoC) is merely a “gimmick” of President Rodrigo Duterte to distract the general public away from the latest surge in drug-related killings.
President Rodrigo Duterte changed Faeldon with Phil. Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director Sid Lapena amid calls from senators and representatives to take away the previous Marine captain for his failure to cease the smuggling of shabu value P6.four billion from China.
Asked whether or not the President felt the strain to sack Faeldon, Trillanes stated, “Oo naman. Ganito ano, matagal silang nanahimik nung pumutok ‘yung kay Kian. Naramdaman nila ‘yung galit nung tao.”
“So they needed to come up with new gimmicks to appease the people,” Trillanes stated referring to the killing of Grade 11 scholar, Kian Loyd delos Santos, 17, throughout a drug operation on Aug. 15 in brgy. 160 in Caloocan City.
But I don’t’ think it will assuage the fear of the people. Iyung outrage mababawasan?
Honest daw. So may problema sa kanilang communications plan,” Trillanes stated.
