Senator Antonio Trillanes IV took time out to debunk a vital piece in opposition to him written by Manila Times columnist Yen Makabenta who primarily based his details on fake news from a pro-Duterte web site.
Trillanes’ workplace despatched a letter to the newspaper noting that Makabenta’s “false and derogatory statements” in opposition to him in his column, “A festival of schadenfreude, courtesy of Trillanes, Duterte and Sereno” printed on June 17, 2017, have been primarily based on fake news from Pinoy Pride web site.
His workplace described the web site as “a propaganda site that contains fake news and/or biased articles that seek to deceive its readers and malign the people known to be critical of the present administration.”
In his column , Makabenta revealed that members of the Masinloc Fishermen Association (MFA) walked out of a workshop seminar when Trillanes began his speech.
“When asked why they left the area, two brothers, both fishermen from Iba, said they we were tired of hearing the senator’s promises. He says the same things over and over again. Nothing happens,” wrote Makabenta.
Trillanes’ workplace claimed there was no such gathering on June 10, 2017 (or earlier than or after mentioned date) and the senator was on official journey and was overseas on the mentioned date.
Trillanes has sought an apology from Makabenta.
