Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is taking with a grain of salt Sen. Richard Gordon’s claims that he has the backing of “more than 14” of their colleagues within the ethics criticism to be filed in opposition to him.
“I will not take the word of Gordon na mayroon syang 14. Mahabang proseso ‘yan. May presentation of evidence ‘yan, tapos ipe-present ‘yan (complaint) sa plenary at ultimately, pagbobotohan ‘yan. it’s a long process eh doon natin malalaman kung meron talaga syang 14 (votes) o wala. Titingnan natin ngayon kung ipa-file nya na o hindi,” Trillanes mentioned in a media interview on Monday.
When informed of the claims of Gordon on the supposed assist of their colleagues through the majority bloc’s caucus, Trillanes mentioned he was able to face the criticism.
“Alam nyo naiinip na nga ako eh. Sabi nya, akala ko (the complaint will be filed) first thing in the morning. Inaantay ko lang yan. Pagka dumating ‘yan eh di haharapin ko ‘yan and I will not let it be a distraction dito sa bigger issue na itong si (Davao City Vice Mayor) Paolo Duterte at (Atty. Manases) Mans Carpio ay naiinvolve dito sa shabu shipment na ito at sa smuggling sa customs,” he mentioned.
“(But) So tignan natin. It will be a long process and I’m confident sabi ko nga na wala akong ginawang anything improper, anything unparliamentary,” Trillanes added.
The senator mentioned it’s untimely for Gordon to boast of assist of his colleagues saying that there’s no assurance at this level that it’ll finally be translated into the wanted vote to have him sanctioned by the Senate, whether or not to slap him with a reprimand, suspension or worst, expulsion from the higher chamber.
“Ako naman naiintindihan ko ‘yung political game but we shall see sino ‘yang mga ‘yan,” he mentioned.
