Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana is assured that the Supreme Court would deny petitions declaring as unconstitutional Proclamation No. 216 which imposed martial regulation over Mindanao.
In a briefing Monday, Lorenzana mentioned primarily based on the presentation he and Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Año made to the High Court magistrates, he was optimistic the SC would declare it authorized.
“I was there, I briefed them, I and General Año briefed them, briefed the Supreme Court en banc. Ang kanilang tinitingnan naman eh the factual basis, kung talagang merong basis,” mentioned Lorenzana.
“I believe we have sufficiently or competently answered all the questions on the basis of martial law,” he added.
Lorenzana anticipated the SC to hand down its ruling on the case on Tuesday, July four.
“I look forward to seeing that they will say that this is legal for the President to declare martial law in the first place,” mentioned Lorenzana.
