President Rodrigo Duterte has accredited the establishing of a “peace corridor” with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to hasten the rescue and humanitarian operations for civilians nonetheless trapped in Marawi City, Malacañang stated Wednesday (May 31).

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella stated the institution of a “peace corridor” was agreed following the assembly between Duterte, members of the Joint Implementing Panels, and high officers of the MILF on Monday (May 29) in Davao City.

During the assembly, the MILF vowed to cooperate with authorities in securing the areas the place these peace corridors might be established.

A gathering between the implementing panels of the authorities and MILF might be held inside the week to formalize the modalities and parameters of the “peace corridor.”
