President Rodrigo Duterte is now not averse to the presence of American troops in the nation regardless of his tirades towards the United States, Malacanang stated.

“He has accepted the situation at this stage,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella stated of Duterte at a press briefing Tuesday (June 20).

Abella added that the ties between the Philippines and US has all the time been existent, and a part of the connection is aiding one another in confronting safety threats.

Philippine officers have confirmed that US troops have been offering technical help and intelligence to Filipino troopers going after the Maute group in Marawi City.

Duterte beforehand stated he was unaware of the US’ participation in the battle in Marawi City till the troops arrived.

Nevertheless, he thanked the US for its assist since its help saves lives.
