Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is prepared to vouch for Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV amid the controversy involving the allegation that he met with opposition politikos in Marawi City earlier than the Maute group’s assault final May.

Sotto made the peace of mind Wednesday evening (June 7) to Aquino whereas they had been each attending a social occasion together with a few of their colleagues.

“I will vouch for you, I’m the majority floor leader, alam kong nandun ka sa session nung May 2,” Aquino quoted Sotto telling him.

Sotto confirmed what he mentioned to Aquino and his willingness to vouch for his colleague, if want be.

“Besides, I don’t think Bam (Aquino) will engage in any such activity,” he mentioned.

The insinuation that Aquino could have one thing to do with the Marawi disaster was made by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II, who claimed that the lawmaker met with Senator Sonny Trillanes, Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano, former Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Ronald Llamas earlier than the Mautes staged their assault on May 23.

Aguirre has apologized to Aquino over the allegation although he has but to make a public apology, because the senator demanded.

For Aquino, the assist he has gotten from his colleagues over the difficulty present it goes past politics.

“It cuts across the majority and minority already. Kapag nagbibintang ka sa mga senador ng mga bagay-bagay na peke hindi lang po personal yung laban na ‘yan,” he mentioned.
