Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III stated Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chair Chito Gascon ought to have foreseen the House’s transfer to slash its 2018 price range from P678 million to P1,000.

“There is a saying that goes: if you work for an institution or you’re with an institution, speak well of it. Otherwise, resign, then damn it. Ganun dapat. Para walang problema yung si Gascon, tirahin nya habang hindi na sya CHR (chair),” Sotto informed reporters.

“Eh kasi (you’re with) CHR pagkatapos ang President mo tinititra mo eh. Di ba? kaya ganyan ang nangyayari. Ganyan ang effect sa mga congressmen. I’m not justifying it. But I’m saying that that’s the reason why we are in a situation like this,” he added.

Sotto suggested Gascon to “stick to the issues and stop hitting the President and his war on drugs.”

“If you’re against the policies of the government which is the policy of the President, might as well seek the presidency so you can change the policies,” he stated.

“Gawin mo yung trabaho mo na lang sa CHR wala kang problema sa amin (in the Senate), wala ka ring problema sa Congress,” Sotto added.

The Senate chief wouldn’t categorically name for the resignation of Gascon however he hinted that the CHR chief, if he needed to “save” the establishment, ought to make the sacrifice.

“Kung ganun yung lumalabas na itsura (that it’s all because of him) eh siguro naman dapat mag-isip-isip na si chairman na sya ang nagiging balakid dun sa entire commission,” he stated.
