Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo might be an ally of President Rodrigo Duterte, however appointing her to a Cabinet post is the farthest factor from his thoughts.

In a press briefing with Filipino reporters in Myanmar Sunday (March 20), Duterte mentioned he doubts Arroyo will even settle for a suggestion to hitch his Cabinet.

“She cannot be working under a President when she was already a president. That will be quite a tall order for her to do that,” the President defined.

Duterte mentioned being the congressional consultant of Pampanga’s second district is “somehow acceptable to everybody” in comparison with being a Cabinet official since she is answerable to her constituents.

“But yung magtrabaho siya Executive department under my direction and control, I said that’s a very tall order for her. So I will answer the questions for her also, including mine. Ibig sabihin, hindi tayo darating pa sa panahon na ‘yan,” he mentioned.

The query on Arroyo’s potential appointment to the Cabinet arose after she was eliminated as Deputy Speaker within the House of Representatives for voting towards the passage of the death penalty invoice.

Asked if he’ll take into account appointing Arroyo as a substitute to guide the constitutional fee within the House for the modification of the 1987 Charter, Duterte mentioned: “Maybe. Maybe. Maybe, baka ayaw rin niya eh.”
