Malacañang has expressed doubt over the sincerity of the communist motion in attaining peace after the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) ordered the New People’s Army to step up the assaults in opposition to the federal government in gentle of President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of martial regulation in Mindanao.

In a press release, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella confirmed that the federal government won’t push by way of with the fifth spherical of peace talks with the National Democratic Front (NDF), the NPA’s political wing, in The Netherlands.

After Duterte declared martial regulation in Mindanao on May 23, the CPP-NPA urged its troops to step up the offensive in opposition to the federal government and the recruitment of latest fighters as “the necessity of waging revolutionary armed struggle becomes ever clearer.”
