There gained’t be two legislators taking part in Judicial Bar Council (JBC) deliberations at the identical time.

This was the choice of the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday (July 25) because it dismissed the petition of Oriental Mindoro 2nd District Rep. Reynaldo Umali to return the follow of two members of Congress in JBC deliberations.

SC spokesperson Theodore Te mentioned the excessive tribunal voted 9-5 towards Umali’s petition with Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno taking no half within the voting.

Previously, one consultant from Congress and one from the Senate are allowed to vote at the JBC.

Iin 2012, the SC issued a ruling which restricted Congress to just one seat within the JBC deliberations in a petition filed by former Solicitor General Francisco Chavez who needed the membership of the JBC trimmed down from eight to seven.
