Malacañang has distanced President Rodrigo Duterte from the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and 14 others in a raid carried out by police operatives.
Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Menardo Guevarra mentioned Duterte has no particular participation in police operations.
“As far as I know, aside from his general instruction to eliminate drugs and all people who supported the illegal drug trade, he has no particular or specific participation in any of actual police operations,” he mentioned in a press convention Monday (July 31).
Parojinog, his spouse and 13 others had been killed when members of the Region 10 Criminal Investigation and Detection Group raided their residence at round 2 a.m. Sunday (July 30).
Police claimed they had been pressured to fireplace again as a result of they had been shot at by members of Parojinog’s safety staff.
The mayor’s daughter, Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, and her brother had been delivered to Camp Crame for processing.
Guevarra mentioned the Commission on Human Rights is free to analyze the raid on Parojinog’s home if it needs to take action.
“They have to do their own mandates. When the President said that he’d be informed if any soldier or law enforcer will be undergoing any investigation, I presume he was speaking as Commander-in-Chief and not as Chief Executive,” he mentioned.
