Vice President Leni Robredo is anxious that the majority Filipinos are looking once more at a “savior” as a result of they consider that democracy has failed them.

In a speech Sunday, Robredo stated the hope which swept the nation in 1986 has turned to despair as most Filipinos stay mired in poverty like they have been through the darkish days of martial legislation.

“Despite being one of the fastest growing economies in the region, growth and development still haven’t reached many parts of our country. Some of us see these challenges as a sign that democracy is not working,” she stated in a speech Sunday.

Robredo stated she was not stunned that the majority Filipinos have turned to “desperate measures” and savior to take them out of their quandary.

“Many cling to the idea of saviors who promise the swiftest, and sometimes the most brazen, of solutions. Shockingly, the rule of law has taken a back seat, as if it is merely a convenience our nation can do without.” she addded.

But Robredo believes that the answer to the nation’s drawback doesn’t lie with a single individual or company. She nonetheless believed that change ought to be fulfilled by unusual Filipinos below democratic beliefs.
