As the household of 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos is about to file prison complaints towards policemen who killed him throughout a drug operation, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II assured Caloocan City prosecutor Darwin Cañete is not going to be allowed to deal with the case.

Aguirre defined as soon as the prison complaints have been filed by the household “it is raffled among the prosecutors to ensure impartiality.”

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon had slammed Cañete for making unsavory remarks about Kian who was known as not completely harmless within the unlawful medication commerce regardless of protestations from his household of his innocence.

Aguirre assured Cañete’s function has been “to gather the relevant factual antecedents of such cases upon the invitation of the police.”

“And Prosecutor Darwin Cañete, the one who gathered the facts of such a case, is no longer included in the raffle of the case,” he stated.

“This exclusion is precisely done to avoid any purported prejudgment from being present in his resolution of the case if the same is raffled to him,” Aguirre assured.

Meanwhile, Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Acosta stated her workplace has accepted the request to symbolize the household of Kian and file the prison complaints towards the policemen concerned within the killing.
