Russia’s pro-Kremlin media reacted triumphantly on Saturday to the primary handshake and prolonged talks between President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump on the G20 assembly in Hamburg.
The fashionable tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda headlined its entrance web page “Putin and Trump found a way to peace in Syria and Ukraine” and devoted two pages to evaluation of the leaders’ public handshake.
“Look at Putin’s thumb. He is controlling the situation, setting its tone,” the paper wrote, calling this “the handshake that the whole world was really waiting for.”
