National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon on Friday stated the Philippine National Police (PNP) deserves the P900 million intelligence budget that it needs to implement the war on medicine subsequent 12 months.
“Iyung tokhang fund as requested by the PNP they certainly need that,” Esperon stated when requested to touch upon the plan of Sen. Sonny Trillanes to re-align a part of the “tokhang” intel fund of PNP to the Armed Forces’ intel budget for 2018.
Trillanes believes the AFP want extra intel funds than the PNP for the reason that army has to tackle safety considerations such because the Marawi disaster and the Chinese incursions on the West Philippine Sea.
“Iyung pagsabi na tatanggalin ko ‘yan para lang sabihin na may diperensya ‘yung (anti-drug) operations, then let’s adjust ‘yung operations,” he stated in an opportunity interview on the Senate.
Esperon was on the Senate yesterday to defend the proposed P186.three million budget of the National Security Council which the Senate Committee on Finance, chaired by Sen. Loren Legarda, accredited.
