Filipinos in Saudi Arabia had been warned over the weekend towards accepting jobs or work offers in Iran, particularly as family service employees.

In an advisory, the Philippine embassy in Riyadh additionally warned the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration shouldn’t be accepting direct rent employment to Iran.

“Foreigners who come to Iran on a visit take the risk of ending up as household service workers and will accumulate large penalties if they overstayed,” it stated.

Worse, it stated unscrupulous employers will maintain the HSW’s passports and make them work till their vacationer visas expire.

Also, it stated the employers will even not shoulder the overstaying penalties and repatriation ticket.

“The HSW then becomes stranded in Iran,” it stated.
