This early, Sen. Panfilo Lacson is sympathizing with Sen. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, who has the unenviable job of passing the administration’s complete tax reform package within the Senate.
Lacson mentioned Angara might face the prospect of shedding votes ought to he run for a second Senate time period in 2019, due to the pending tax measure.
“We also sympathize with Sen. Sonny, dahil kawawa naman siya, baka ma-Recto siya. Dahil remember ang VAT pinasa niha nakatulong sa economy but the Filipinos did not realize then na tutulong talaga sa economy ginawa ni Ralph. Pero parusa sa kanya, natalo siya eh,” Lacson instructed reporters.
He was referring to the expertise of Sen. Ralph Recto, who misplaced his 2007 senatorial bid as a result of he sought the passage of laws on the value-added tax.
Recto finally received a Senate seat in 2010, and received a second time period in 2016.
