The Philippine authorities will proceed to work with the United States for the return of the Balangiga bells stolen by American troops in 1901, Malacañang mentioned Sunday (July 30).
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella made the assertion in response to us Ambassador Sung Kim’s comment that they’re attempting “to reach an early resolution on the Balangiga bells.”
“The Balangiga bells, as the President mentioned, are an important part of our national heritage,” he mentioned.
“The government is also committed to continue to lay the path towards the restoration of our dignity as a nation,” Abella added.
Duterte demanded that the US return the bells in his State of the Nation Address on July 24.
