PET set to recount votes in 3 pilot provinces; Macalintal confident this will confirm Robredo’s win over Marcos
The Supreme Court (SC), sitting because the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), will begin in February 2017 the recount of votes in three pilot provinces over the election protest of former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Lawyer Romulo Macalintal, the authorized counsel of Vice President Leni Robredo, stated the votes from her dwelling province of Camarines Sur would be the primary to subjected for recount.
Macalintal stated this could be adopted by the 2 different pilot provinces, specifically, Iloilo and Negros Oriental.
The lawyer expressed confidence the recount would confirm Robredo did win and never Marcos who filed the election protest in opposition to her.
Citing PET Rules, Macalintal defined the election protest could be dismissed for lack of benefit if Marcose failed to show any substantial restoration of votes from the three pilot provinces.
