A face-off between President Rodrigo Duterte and Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales is looming over investigations regarding troopers and policemen.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Saturday (July 29) stated Duterte requests that investigations associated to the federal government’s anti-drug marketing campaign or the implementation of martial regulation be addressed to him.
“He assumes command responsibility for the actions of his men as Commander-in-Chief or Chief Executive,” Abella stated.
Malacañang relayed Duterte’s request after Morales requested why the President ought to care how she conducts her investigations.
“Anong pakialam niya?” Morales requested.
Duterte informed the Ombudsman and the Commission on Human Rights to search his clearance first before investigating erring cops and troopers.
