Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday mentioned there have been different senators who opposed the Executive’s P900 bilion proposed tax reform package deal identical to Sen. Sonny Angara who was singled out by President Rodrigo Duterte in his State of the Nation Address.
“Eh iniba na ng House (of Representatives) eh (yung Palace version), ibang version yung (House bill No. 5636) binigay sa amin so, hindi rin namin kayang ipangako na yung buong version ng House ang aming masusunod. Ang daming question eh ang daming issue,” Sotto mentioned in an interview with reporters.
Sotto mentioned even members of the bulk bloc agree with Angara, chair of the Senate methods and means committee, compromise invoice was wanted to soften the influence of upper taxes on low-income earners.
“Alam naman nya na marami sa amin pareho rin ng thinking nya tungkol dito sa mga bagay na ito. So hindi lang basta basta madaling ipasa ng buo yun eh,” he mentioned.
The decrease home model, which had already been transmitted and being deliberated upon by Angara’s committee “needs a lot of tinkering,” mentioned Sotto.
