PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte’s order reinstating Supt. Marvin Marcos is “a tacit approval of extrajudicial killings (EJK) in the country.”
This was how Sen. Risa Hontiveros described the President’s transfer to reinstate Marcos, head of the workforce of CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) Region eight operatives charged with the killing of former Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa in November final 12 months.
“This is outright obstruction of justice from the highest level of governance and Executive promotion of extrajudicial killings,” she mentioned.
“For those who still deny that there are state-sanctioned killings, here is damning proof,” Hontiveros harassed.
She reminded the President that even his allies within the Senate “unanimously” really useful the submitting of homicide charges in opposition to Marcos and 18 of his subordinates after they carried out public hearings on Espinosa’s killing.
“The Senate and even the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) concluded that the death of Espinosa is a case of extrajudicial killing,” she mentioned.
“How can President Duterte dismiss those findings? For the President to order the reinstatement of Marcos absolves him and his men of any wrongdoing,” the senator added.
