Government troops are determiend to put an end to the Maute terror grop as soon as and for all, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenza stated over the weekend.
Lorenzana made the assertion following the massive majority of Congress collectively voting for the extension of martial regulation in Mindanao.
“With the overwhelming vote of confidence from our legislature and the ardent support of the Filipino people, your defense department will strive even more to deal with the rebellion decisively and expeditiously,” he stated in an announcement Sunday.
The Congress, in a 261-18 vote, affirmed the necessity to lengthen Presidential Proclamation Number 216 extending Martial Law and the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus till Dec. 31 as initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte.
It was declared in impact in Mindanao after Maute Group terrorists carried out a sequence of assaults in Marawi City following the botched try to arrest Abu Sayyaf chief and ISIS “emir” in Southeast Asia, Isnilon Hapilon, final May 23.
“Makaaasa ang sambayanan na hindi namin sasayangin ang tiwalang ito. Gagampanan ng ating Hukbong Sandatahan ang pagtatanggol sa bayan at mga mamamayan nang buong katapatan,” Lorenzana harassed.
He added that Maute Group terrorists or different lawless parts, wishing to reform and switch themselves in, shall be accepted and given the mandatory assist by the federal government for his or her betterment.
“But if you persist in your crooked ways, the Armed Forces and the police will come after you without let up,” Lorenzana identified. (Philippine News Agency)
