Senator Risa Hontiveros has expressed dismay at Davao City mayor Sara Duterte for accusing her of “abetting terrorism.”

In an announcement Saturday (June 10), Hontiveros mentioned she and Duterte have been “friendly acquaintances” for years and she or he respects the presidential daughter as a frontrunner.

As such, she mentioned the claim that she is sympathetic in the direction of the Maute group is “as ludicrous as the latest fake news about me.”

“I have publicly condemned the Maute group for their brazen acts of terrorism and criminality. I stand by our brave soldiers and police personnel for their heroic efforts,” Hontiveros mentioned.

The senator mentioned her critics could have misconstrued her as a supporter of terrorists as a result of for her, the Maute group aren’t rebels.

“Sila ay mga terorista. Ang mga rebelde gaya ng CPP-NPA, MNLF at MILF ay kausap na ng pamahalaan sa peace process. Ang Maute ay hindi,” she mentioned.

Hontiveros believes she is being wrongly tagged as a supporter of the Maute group as a consequence of her demand for Congress to convene in a joint session to debate President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of martial legislation.

She mentioned she is not going to be stunned if ever a case is filed towards her or different senators belonging to the minority bloc quickly.
