Anakpawis partylist Rep. Ariel “Ka Ayik” Casilao mentioned House Bill No. 6221 or the Filipino Identification System, which was handed on third studying on the House of Representatives final Friday, is an “instrument of mass surveillance” and can violate the individuals’s proper to privateness.

He mentioned the national ID system will permit the federal government to have entry to residents’ personal data, threatening their civil and democratic rights.

“The private information on the people is accessible to government agencies, corrupt officials and even foreign corporations, hence, this is essentially creating a serious problem,” Casilao mentioned.
