Senator Nancy Binay has counseled the Department of Tourism (DOT) for severing its partnership with McCann Philippines ad company following the controversial tourism ad allegedly copied from South Africa’s tourism marketing campaign.

“We thank the Department of Tourism for listening to the views and sentiments of its stakeholders, especially in the light of controversy involving the department and its advertising agency,” Binay, chair of the Senate tourism committee, mentioned in a press release.

“We trust that the DOT would put its best food forward as it moves on from this episode,” she mentioned.

The senator earlier expressed dismay with the DOT’s “Experience the Philippines” commercial that resembled South Africa’s tourism video in 2014.

She additionally urged the tourism division to begin penalizing promoting and inventive companies that submit copied ad ideas or unoriginal works.
