Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has accused Senators Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and Antonio Trillanes IV, and Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano of assembly in Marawi City earlier than the May 23 assault of the Maute group.
Aguirre stated it was attainable that the lawmakers assembly along with former Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Ronald Llamas and native leaders “sparked the terroristic acts in Marawi.”
“Hindi ko malaman why after they went there nagkagulo na after two weeks. They met with the people there, they met with several families there,” he stated Wednesday (June 7).
Aguirre stated there must also be an investigation on whether or not the opposition lawmakers had been liable for bringing the P79 million price of money and checks seized just lately by the army from a Maute stronghold in the battle zone.
“But I don’t want to connect it (the meeting to Marawi siege) unless there’s evidence dun sa money taken,” he stated.
There had been earlier reviews linking Aquino to the Maute crisis due to his latest journey to Marawi City.
However, the Department of Trade and Industry has clarified that Aquino flew to the town as a visitor through the launch of its first Negosyo Center in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
