President Rodrigo Duterte has cursed the United States anew over its refusal to return the Balangiga Bells seized from Eastern Samar duering the American occupation.
In a speech in Cebu City Monday (February 12), Duterte scored American politikos for imposing situations earlier than the bells might be returned.
“Ayaw nilang isauli because that is a memento that is — dugo daw nila. P****** i** ninyo,” he mentioned.
Duterte mentioned it was solely pure for Filipinos to insurgent towards the Americans once they conquered the Philippines within the early 1900s.
“Nakunin niyo ‘yung Balangiga bells, gusto ko isauli ninyo. Why? Kasi ang kinapital ng Pilipino diyan dugo. You massacred one God d*** island there,” he mentioned.
The bells had been taken by American troops from the Balangiga church when it attacked the city within the 1900s.
Males aged 10 years and older had been killed by the American troopers due to the order to show the city right into a “howling wilderness.”
Earlier this month, Illinois Rep. Randy Hultgren and Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern requested US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis to not present certification for the bells’ return till the Philippine authorities ends extrajudicial killings.
The two lawmakers expressed their “deepest concerns with the human rights record” of the nation.
