Contrary to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana’s declare, foul climate wasn’t the rationale why President Rodrigo Duterte referred to as off his visit to Marawi City Thursday (June eight).

Citing a source shut to Duterte, the Philippine Star reported on Friday (June 9) that the journey was cancelled due to safety concerns.

“Really, hindi kaya. The security of the President could not be assured by those on the ground there. That was why the visit to Marawi had to be cancelled,” the Star quoted its source as saying.

Lorenzana, who was half of the advance occasion who went to Marawi forward of the President, earlier mentioned the visit had to be cancelled due to dangerous climate since visibility was poor.

Duterte was supposed to tackle members of the 103rd Brigade, which is one of the troops engaged within the battle in opposition to the terrorist Maute group.

Mindanao has been below martial legislation since May 23 due to the combating between the terrorists and authorities forces in Marawi City.
