President Rodrigo Duterte is not going to suppose twice abut declaring martial law nationwide if “armed groups” and their sympathizers create havoc in the streets.
“It is always an option,” mentioned National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr. when requested about experiences the President meant to declare martial law if there will likely be violence in the streets.
“Sinabi nya bibigyan ko kayo ng pagkakataon na masabi ng inyong niloloob. Mag-rally kayo dyan pero don’t take the law in your hands,” he instructed Senate media.
Asked whether or not he acquired intelligence report that there can be groups who had been planning to conduct disturbances throughout the commemoration of Martial Law on Sept. 21, Esperon mentioned, “Mayroon at may alam tayong mga armandong grupo.”
Pressed whether or not these armed groups had been already in Metro Manila, he mentioned, “Sa malapit na mga lugar na p’wedeng makarating (agad sa Metro Manila). Let’s just be assured na mayroong degree of responses na nandyan to better handle the situation.”
