Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Eduardo Año might have but to take his post as Interior Secretary, however President Rodrigo Duterte has his work minimize out for him already.

Speaking on the protection and arms present of the Association of the Firearms and Ammunition Dealer of the Philippines in Davao City Friday (May 19), Duterte advised Año to make sure enemies of the state don’t get their fingers on guns.

“No firearm should ever, ever land in the hands of the enemies of the state. So if you want to take orders, advise your clients that you have to work on the papers. Make it early because it will be heard for you to get the bullets,” he mentioned.

“Never, never give the advantage to the other side. I will not allow it simply because… my endeavor would always be for the protection of the country,” Duterte added.

The President suggested gun collectors towards buying excessive powered firearms at a time when his administration is working laborious to handle the issue of the New People’s Army and the extremist terrorist teams.

He mentioned he can’t enable extra troopers to misplaced their lives resulting from assaults from the New People’s Army.

Duterte mentioned he plans a crackdown on the sale of firearms however will ask Año to speak to the stakeholders first.

The AFP chief, who was presupposed to retire in October, will assume his new post on June 2 as per Duterte’s orders.
