Senator Win Gatchalian defended colleague, Sen. Bam Aquino, from insinuations of Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguire II on his being an alleged collaborator of the Maute group in sowing terror in Marawi City.

Gatchalian backed Aquino’s claims on his current go to in Marawi City final May 19 as an official mission as they ran into one another on the airport in Cagayan de Oro on that very same day.

“Nagku-kwentuhan kami and kasama ni Sen. Bam yung mga youth leaders from Marawi City. Wala naman akong nakitang any other people other than the youth group. I doubt it kung si Sen. Bam is linked to this whole thing. Personally, I don’t think it’s possible. Magkasama kami during that time,” he stated in an interview with reporters.

“At the end it will boil down to evidence. (But) I think we should also be very careful with linking people with whatever instances dahil masisira yung reputation nung tao kung wala namang connection. Let’s be fair. Kung wala namang connection mahirap naman i link kung sino man sa mga pangyayari. At the end it will boil down kung anong evidence ang hawak,” the senator stated.

Gatchalian stated he was in Cagayan de Oro for a cooperative common meeting.

The senator stated he doesn’t know something about the identical problem regarding Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV as he’s solely privy then on the whereabouts of Aquino.

Aquino stated he was in Marawi final May 19 to launch the primary Negosyo Center in ARMM and was even escorted all all through his journey by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), naming even the likes of Lanao del Sur Gov. Bombit Adiong, Brig. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista and Gen. Nixon Fortes who might attest his attendance to the stated occasion.

His presence within the stated occasion was even publicly clarified and confirmed by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sec. Ramon Lopez, Aquino stated.
