The final two Abu Sayyaf terrorists that raided Bohol Island in an obvious bid to kidnap vacationers have been killed.
More than a month after the incursion on April 10, Abu Ubayda and one other member recognized solely as “Asis” had been killed in a pursuit operation yesterday (Monday, May 15).
Both died from bullet wounds within the head. Ubayda was stated to be unrecognisable after he was repeatedly shot within the face.
The raid, which was believed to be a part of a plan to kidnap vacationers from a resort on Easter Sunday, was foiled after residents tipped off police that 10 militants had arrived on three boats.
The navy had been swift to reply, and a gun battle ensued on April 12, leaving three terrorists useless, together with their chief, Abu Rami.
The remaining militants fled and holed up inside a cave.
However, their hiding place was found on April 22 after a bike taxi driver tipped off police a couple of significantly smelly passenger who was appearing suspiciously.

Word reached the military, and a gun battle quickly broke out. The father and son escaped unhurt, and the terrorists made it to a close-by village the place they stole a resident’s motorcycle.
However, they didn’t make it very far earlier than they ran right into a police checkpoint. At this level they escaped once more on foot, and ran again into the two-hectare mangrove forest.
