The return to lively responsibility of Superintendent Marvin Marcos and others linked to the killing of Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa final November could have deep penalties, Sen. Panfilo Lacson stated Sunday.
Lacson, who headed the Philippine National Police from 1999 to 2001, stated Marcos’ case will embolden rogue cops to demand discipline assignments.
“The Marcos case may have deeper implications. Police scalawags may now invoke his case as precedent and demand to be given field assignments,” he stated in a tweet.
Marcos and his males have been linked to the killing of Espinosa in a sub provincial jail final Nov. 5. At the time, they have been within the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Region eight.
An investigation by two Senate panels, one of which is headed by Lacson, discovered the killing of Espinosa was premeditated.
Despite this, Marcos is reportedly set to return to lively responsibility this week, as head of the CIDG in Region 12.
