Defending champion La Salle moved nearer to securing a Final Four spot after keeping off University of the Philippines, 27-25, 25-11, 25-17, within the UAAP Season 79 girls’s volleyball match Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Spikers gained their third straight recreation and improved to an Eight-2 report whereas the Lady Maroons, who’ve now dropped 5 of their final six video games, slipped to 5-5.

Mary Joy Baron rose to fulfill Nicole Tiamzon in midair and deny the UP veteran that sealed the victory for the Lady Spikers. 

La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo stated this was a revenge recreation in opposition to the Lady Maroons, who beat them within the first spherical in straight units, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19.

“The players got affected by what UP did in the first round, they were distracted when UP ran around the floor,” stated Orcullo. “We told them that they shouldn’t think about what UP was doing.”

“And we knew that we would be able to overcome UP because we already told them what to do.”

In a match the place each groups restricted their errors to lower than 20, it was within the service and blocking departments that the Lady Spikers made a killing. 

La Salle scored on 9 kill blocks whereas bombarding UP with 11 service aces.

Baron led the Lady Spikers with 16 factors whereas Kim Kianna Dy, Desiree Cheng, and Tin Tiamzon had 11 factors apiece.

Isa Molde had 12 factors to guide the Lady Maroons.
