It’s not solely in Palawan that the threat of kidnapping is rearing its ugly head.

The United Kingdom has warned its residents within the Philippines towards kidnapping threats by the Abu Sayyaf all the best way to the Sabah space.

“In May 2017, the Philippines authorities reported that they had received unsubstantiated but credible information that the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf may be about to conduct kidnaps in the Sulu Sea, including around the islands of the Sulu archipelago (Philippines) and the seas/islands off the east coast of Sabah (Malaysia),” it stated in its travel advice up to date May 11.

“Any vessels sailing in the area could be targeted; you should carefully consider travel plans and be especially vigilant at this time,” it added .

Earlier, the United States warned of kidnap threats within the Palawan space, prompting different nations to concern the same travel advice.
