Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III is taking at face worth Malacanang’s assurance that President Rodrigo Duterte was in “excellent health” and that his fifth day of absence from the general public eye was spent resting his drained 72-year previous physique.

Pimentel stated that Malacanang has the duty underneath the 1987 Constitution to tell the general public of the President’s state of health only “in case of serious illness.”

“If the President is merely resting or doesn’t feel well or has slight fever or flu or LBM, there is no need to make a public announcement about that,” Pimentel stated.

“Since there is no public statement from Malacanang Palace, then that means the cause of the absence of the President from the public eye is a minor one,” he confused.

The Senate chief and staunch Duterte supporter issued the assertion within the wake of continuous and mounting calls on Malacanang to reveal the precise state of health of the Chief Executive who has not been seen in a public occasion or made any appointment in Malacanang since June 12.
