Pimentel agreed new spherical of inquiry within the Senate would assist decide the explanation behind the DOJ determination to decrease the homicide charges towards accused policemen to murder.

“In fairness to everybody, we’ve had hearings here in the Senate but of course a preliminary investigation follows a different procedure, submission of counter affidavits. So i think the best way is to reopen the hearing and require the submission of these counter affidavits (of the respondents). Posible kasing iba ang sinabi sa (Senate) hearing, iba ang isinulat o sinabi sa counter affidavit,” he stated.

Even if Congress is presently on recess, Pimentel doesn’t see any downside if the involved committee or committee chair, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, would name for a listening to anytime quickly.

“That’s why I think the best way to move forward is to reopen so that the committee will also be given with whatever documents, affidavits were given to the panel of investigators to be fair, to be fair and so that the Senate will have a complete picture,” Pimentel stated.

Still, the senator stated the treatment to the difficulty is throughout the court docket or the judicial course of as beforehand identified by Sen. Richard Gordon.
