A scholar who hails from Marawi City will ship the valedictory speech on the 106th graduation rites of the University of the Philippines Diliman on June 25.

Arman Ali Ghodsinia, a BS Molecular Biology and Biotechnology scholar from the College of Science, obtained a common weighted common (GWA) of 1.176.

He is one of the 36 summa cum laudes who will lead round four,000 graduates of UP’s flagship campus.

Summa cum laude, a Latin phrase which implies “with greatest honors,” is the best award given to graduates with a GWA of 1.20 or increased.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Ghodsinia mentioned his speech will comprise a name for peace in his hometown.

“Sana lang matapos na ang gulo doon para sa mga bata at makapag-aral. Masuwerte ako at nandito sa Maynila, malayo doon pero sana matapos na ang lahat ng kaguluhan doon,” he mentioned.

Marawi City has been ravaged by battle since May 23 as authorities forces go after the Maute group and their allied terrorists.
