President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned he was offered P5 billion in marketing campaign funds simply to run within the 2016 elections.

But he claimed he did not obtain a single centavo from the teams that made the provide noting that essentially the most he obtained was the P200 million contributions from his Davao supporters. (He reported getting P334 million within the 2016 marketing campaign from 13 donors principally from Mindanao.

“Sige sila. So, maraming tao magsabi na tumakbo ka. Wala namang ibinibigay. Sabi ko, oo nang oo. And kasi… Sabi dito, ‘Rod, ito may five billion kami nakataya.’ Wala akong natanggap ha ni… Maniwala kayo, okay lang, kung hindi okay rin,” mentioned Duterte in a speech in Malacanang.

“I never received billion na ano… Pinakamalayo ko was I think 200 billion (million) at grupo ‘yun sa Davao. Marami kasi, it was… Ang ano ko siguro sa palad that most of my ‘yung kababata ko, sila Carlos Dominguez III became rich and famous and ‘yon ‘yung sila ang nagu-udyok,” he added.

Duterte did not determine the precise teams who dangled the P5 billion marketing campaign funding. He simply mentioned that as early as 2015, a number of teams have began to enchantment to him to save the nation and run for president. These embrace Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, Muslims, people from Iloilo and different Visayas provinces, ex-mutineers like Danny Lim and Nic Faeldon, and his Davao pals and San Beda class mates.
