President Rodrigo Duterte doesn’t know who amongst the members of the highly effective Commission of Appointments (CA) voted to reject former Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo.
In a press convention at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang Monday (August 21), Duterte admitted it was the CA’s discretion to maintain their votes secret concerning Taguiwalo.
“I do not know who voted for and who was against Taguiwalo. And that is the job of Congress as part of the checks and balances in this government. Checks and balance ‘yan eh,” he mentioned.
“So wala tayong magawa kung i-reject. I do not want to attribute or impute something, motive. It’s a discretion and they voted secret,” Duterte added.
The President mentioned he doesn’t anticipate to discover out who voted in favor of Taguiwalo even when he requested.
“I do not want to inquire because nobody would tell me the truth anyway. So because there is nobody I can ask. The voting was secret,” he mentioned.
Duterte expressed unhappiness about having to let Taguiwalo go, saying she was “bright” employee.
