The House of Representatives handed the proposed P3.767 trillion budget for 2018 on second reading on Tuesday by way of a viva voce vote.
After a month of committee deliberations and every week of plenary debate, lawmakers braved torrential rains and floods on account of Tropical Depression Maring to approve the proposed General Appropriations Act of 2018.
“Nearby government offices suspended work but we in the House of Representatives know that our foremost duty is to pass the national budget.. And we did so on 2nd reading,” stated an elated Davao City Rep. Karlo Nograles, chairman of the House appropriations committee.
“Not even a Palace-announced suspension of work can postpone the movement of the GAB. This also shows that the Legislature is truly independent from the Executive,” he stated.
The Davao solon stated HB No. 6215 will seemingly get accepted on third and ultimate reading on September 21.
