Deliberations on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will only take off in Congress if earlier issues that hampered it’s approval within the past administration have been addressed within the new draft submitted to President Rodrigo Duterte by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).
Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, in a textual content message to reporters, stated “there will be a meeting with the President on July 17 starting at 4 p.m. for the BBL submission.”
But even Duterte’s endorsement may not be sufficient to sway some lawmakers.
“It depends if the perceived weaknesses of the first version of the BBL have been corrected,” stated Sen. Gringo Honasan, chair of the Senate committee on national protection and safety.
